Let's walk along the Memory Lane of Penang - Happy New Year 2009!!!

Below are those pictures I took from Internet for own pleasure. It shows the changes Penang has gone through for the past several decades. It also serves as a nostalgia memory for us to stop for awhile and take us back to the golden time of our parents/grandparents and treasure their moment of glory. Enjoy!

Ranong - A very special and meaningful place to me

Khaw Soo Cheang was my great great great grandfather. I did not know his history or how great and influential he was until I paid a visit to Ranong myself with my family members in year 2004. It was the event where we send his 'san zu pai' back to Ranong as part of his will.

The statue behind us is him. In fact, I saw people offering flowers at his statue which I found it weird. This sight usually happen when offering to deity or god (as far as I am concern-lah). Anyway, it is something to be proud off.





Next photo is his tomb. It is located on a higher land. I will not call it a hill because it looks more like a high land than hill but a very big piece of land for a tomb. Along the way to the tomb, there are animals sculptures (not that 2 tiny little animals on my left). Those sculptures are stone carving (maybe served as some kind of protection in Chinese cultures). Whenever the locals pass by the tomb, they will honk. My dad said that is the locals way of showing their respect to him. That was new to me at that time.

Citibank Finance Charges

Please take note that the cutoff time to pay your Citibank credit card bills is at 8:00 PM. If the machine state down your payment time is 8:01 PM, the system will consider that you make the payment the NEXT BUSINESS DAY.

Eg: Your outstanding bill for this month is RM1030 and today is the due date. You paid RM1000 at 8:05 PM today which is Saturday. Do not think that you only have the outstanding of RM30 and you are safe. Remember that the cutoff time is 8:00 PM and system will consider you paying on Monday because that is the NEXT BUSINESS DAY and Sunday is a holiday. So you are still paying for the interest of RM1030 on Sunday.

The moral of the story:
1) Pay attention to the payment rules and regulations
2) No last minute job
3) Machine also need to rest (you know)
